Noo York Toons.

Buffalo Void posted a couple of Aussie tunes on his blog recently; an old favourite of mine and a new favourite of mine as well.

I thought I'd match that effort with an old favourite and a new favourite from 2 bands from New York.

The Bravery - An Honest Mistake. I'm seeing these boys next weekend, I can't wait.

Hercules and Love Affair - Blind. Their self-titled debut album is on high rotation on my iTunes, these guys kick arse.

Four player frenzy!

This morning on my way to work I passed an enormous pile of rubbish on the footpath. A N64 console caught my eye. Upon further investigation I discovered an N64 controller (I've been meaning to buy a couple on ebay). There was also a commodore 64 and heaps of games.

I only took the N64 controller, but I'm pretty chuffed with my find.

A while ago I bought "The New Tetris" for my N64 and was very impressed with it. A friend stole it so I bought it again recently off ebay

I need just 1 more controller to experience "4-Player frenzy!"

Hooray!

Eurovision 2008

The Eurovision Song Contest is a highlight of any year for me. I love spending Sunday afternoon sinking a few beers and laughing along with Sir Terry Wogan's hilarious commentary on performances jam-packed with woeful singing, cheesey costumes, bad hair and excessive make-up that only Europe seems to be able to produce.

This year SBS pushed the timeslot of the show back to capture a bigger Australian audience so the afternoon piss-up didn't really happen but it was still an entertaining show.

I had quite a few favourites this year. Armenia's song was probably the one I most wanted to get up and dance to, but if you missed the show I'd recommend watching
Azerbaijan's entry. It encapsulates everything eurovision should be. Bad costumes, theatrical, bad singing, bad song, bad make-up AND it came in at 8th place out of 25 countries.

(just sit tight through the 40second intro - it's worth it)

Boznia&Herzegovina took out the "WTF Award". Very entertaining.

I'd also recommend checking out Spain's entry for some entertainment.

And if you want some extreme Euro-trash, you can't go past Iceland's entry.

Russia won the competition, the song was pretty shit, but they had an ice-skater on the (very small) stage, I think that's what took them over the line.

Book meme

Thanks to buffalovoid for giving me an easy way to break a mini-blog drought.

1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open to page 123.
3. Locate the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences on your blog and in so doing...
5. Tag five people, and acknowledge who tagged me.

The nearest book to me is: the future beyond brands, Lovemark by Kevin Roberts, CEO worldwide, Saatchi & Saatchi.

"YUM!

Pure Lovemark thinking. Apple customers are famously Loyal Beyond Reason. They really do think their computers are good enough to eat."

Is it just me or is EVERYTHING about branding these days? It seems I can't open a newspaper or watch a TV show where "brand" or "branding" isn't mentioned.... or "re-branding" for that matter. I guess it doesn't help that I work at a company whose tagline is "creative integrated brand activation"

(I am sort of pleased that Mac got a mention though, I'm such a nerd)

aaaanyway.. I tag curskineville, boserwolf, freeq, easy-b-jesus

I know that's only 4, but I'm lazy, remember?

Fully sick

I am just getting over a bout of the flu, it really knocked me out. I did manage to (finally) get internet connected at home though, but I am posting this at work because there is fuck-all to do.

I went to Club Kooky's 13th b'day on the 3rd of May and got completely annihilated, so I guess that's how I got the flu. the music was fantastic but the night is somewhat of a blur, i did manage to catch up with some of my favourite people though, so that was good. There was a pic of me and Chris in one of the Fag-Rags, we look like fucking idiots, oh well (there are more idiots on the same page, so it ain't all bad).

I spent Mother's Day at my sister's place with the family (sans Peter), and just kind of kicked back as I wasn't feeling 100%. My 3 yr old nephew, Ben, was in top form., Running around with a pirate hat on, a feather-sword, tickling everyone in turn saying "tih-koo, tih-koo, tih-koo", before erupting into squeals of laughter. I'll have to upload a pic of him when I get home (can you believe that not 1 of these G5s has bluetooth?)

EXCITING NEWS: On the way home Mum and Dad informed me that they were going to stick a load of cash into my bank account from the money they made from selling their house. It's enough money to get me completely out of debt and make a significant start on my holiday savings fund. I feel like I won the lottery. now I just need to decide on a holiday location.

I'm not sure when I'm going to have enough cash to travel, but I don't want to travel to a cold climate, and I don't want to pay peak season prices. I am thinking of going for 3 weeks. 2 weeks of travelling, and 1 week of feet up, drinks with umbrellas and sunshine.

So far my potential destinations include: USA (NYC and Vegas mainly), Spain or Thailand.

Spain will be quite expensive I imagine but with the Aussie dollar so strong against the US dollar I'd like to take advantage of it while I can. I made friends with a travel agent the other day and I'm having a beer with him on Thursday, I might pick his brain then.

Any suggestions?

Making up words II

This one just came to me.

Spunk + Spectacular =

Spunktacular

i) He looked spunktacular in his tight, glittery jeans
ii) The cum shots in that porno are spunktacular.

NB. Spunk has 2 meanings in Australia. It is defined as "a cute guy" on urban dictionary.... if you look through all the other meanings that refer to semen and ejaculation

Teenage Supermodel

OK, so I'm not a teenager, and I'm not a supermodel, but last Tuesday I felt like a bit of a supermodel (maybe it was all the wine I drank). I emailed my mate Billy (who I used to spend a good portion of my day chatting to on MSN when I was working at Caprina) recently and he asked when he could get me naked to take photos of my tattoo.

Here are some of the results. I am very impressed.
