Another Completed Work.

Walking home from work last night I made it to the corner of Mandible street and Bowden Street (you can find my name in the cement there if you don't belive I've been there before) and decided I needed a cool track to listen to for the last 5 minutes of my walk home. I finally found "Alive and Kicking" by Jean Winner on my iPod and turned it up.

I picked up the pace as the bass instructed me too and I was about to overtake these 2 guys when I saw some council worker barriers ahead fencing off the footpath. I slowed down a bit in case it was wet cement. I picked up a stick and pretended to play with my phone in case the other guys turned around and wondered why I was tailing them one minute and falling behind the next. Slightly paranoid? Yes. It was wet cement, YAY!

As we approached the detour onto the road, one of the other guys picked up a stick and got busy on the first piece of cement, I overtook him, stick in hand and wrote: "CONCRETE 2 TIM 2006" down the bottom. (I was undecided as to whether I should write 2006 or 2007 after my recent mistake but I decided that I didn't want these strangers to think I was stupid and didn't even know what year it was.

In hindsight I probably should have written 2007 because now the first work is "Concrete", 2007 and the 2nd work is "Concrete 2", 2006. I was going to post pictures of them but then I would look even more stupid, so I guess you are just going to have to check them out to make sure they really exist. Its right near the corner of Mandible St and Wyndham st, out the front of the dry cleaner, near a tree.

This morning when I walked past I noticed one of the guys had written "SMOKE DOPE". I like it.

Bina's Birthday & Idol Finalé

After all the excitement of Lanecove I caught up with Muzz for a couple of beers to hear about his Adventure Race. Sounded pretty fun, Him and Judo looked like they both caught a bit of sun (or were suffering from hypertension).

I went home and got my shit together and headed to Bina's 30th birthday party at "The Eastern" at Bondi Junction. It was a beautiful venue. We stayed there until about 12:30 but i started feeling a bit crook so we went home earlier than anticipated. Bina looked gorgeous and it was nice to catch up with her friends.

After a cruisy sunday of chatting online and working on my next corpse, Chris and I headed over to Paul and George's place for Thai pork burgers complete with Lime aoli and sweet chili sauce, corriander and something else I can't remember. For dessert was a watermelon slushee which was really yummy. I'm, going to have a crack at making it and adding vodka over the Xmas break.

We watched Idol which was pretty average. The Irish bloke won. I liked Jess better but didn't really care. They are both doomed to be B Grade Celebrities for the rest of their lives. I'll see Jess at Burwood RSL in 20 years time. I can hardly wait.

Learner's & Lanecove

I got my Ls - WOOHOO!

Chris and I headed to Lanecove River Park to catch up with Alex and Dieter. After a traumatic 2 hour drive to get there our efforts were rewarded with a gourmet picnic lunch and lovely surrounds. Not to mention the lovely weather. There were heaps of birds there... Kookaburras, rainbow lorikeets, ducks, crows, magpies, honey eaters, indian mynahs. I had fun feeding the ducks... But there is something even more enjoyable about feeding chicken to kookaburras.

Sarah Blasko and stuff.

I went to see Sarah Blasko perform at the @newtown last night with Jackie (Kev and Katie80 rocked up later). It was a pretty good performance although I didn't like what she was wearing (I can be such a fag sometimes). I think her performing style would be better suited to a sit down venue so people would be less inclined to stand at the bar getting pissed... and chatting the whole way through... like me.

She played lots of her old stuff which was good, her new album is great but much more quiet than her older stuff.

I took photos but my phone is having some issues. I'll try and update them at a later date.

I'm currently reading the Questions and Answers that I downloaded from the RTA website to prepare for my Learner Driver's License test. Wish me luck.

Did you know that you can drive in a bus lane if you are in a hire car? I shit you not.

An Exquisite Corpse... My Second Attempt

Finally my second corpse has been completed.

I am very happy with my transition, it worked out quite well. I am a little disappointed with what followed on from my panel, but its all part of the game I guess.

The first corpse I participated in had a much better final result, but I am more pleased with my contribution to this one.

I get to create the first panel in a corpse this week and I have a really cool idea for it :)

Lovely weekend

Wasn't I a busy little bee on the weekend? Friday night had (quite) a few beers with Muzz at the Raglan. We both won a meat tray each.

Saturday morning started off the day with wholemeal pork roll from mascot... such a good breakfast. Helped Reed get some timber cut around the corner. Went shirt shopping with Chris. Had coffee with Mitchum. Got picked up by Katie and Azza and drove to Maroubra where we had lunch at a cafe (it was pretty crap. Food was ok - when it finally arrived - but it was overpriced and the service was shithouse). Waited the obligatory 15 minutes then jumped in for a quick dip. There was hardly anyone at the beach, it was lovely.

I didn't take my phone to snap any pics because I was afraid someone would steal it... paranoid.

Saturday arvo Mitchum and Jackie came over and we watched "The Exorcism of Emily Rose", I give it 2.5 stars. I got scared a little bit but it wasn't very good.

Sunday morning Chris and I went to the fish markets for breakfast. I had never had sashimi for breakfast but it was excellent. The salmon was bright red. Chris got a headache when we were grocery shopping which turned into a migraine so he hit the hay.

I took Den and Gez (mum and dad) to The Iron Duke for lunch and Uncle Pete looked after us. The food was beautiful. After Den and Gez left I caught up with Muzz for some more beers and pool. We went back to my place and started to watch "Over the Hedge". It seemed pretty crap, but I might have been too drunk to appreciate it. The popcorn was good, even if I do say so myself.

Just Call Me "Label Whore"

I was checking myself out in the reflection of the windows outside work on my way back from lunch (as you do) and I realised I was wearing some very exy labels. G-Unit shoes (no cred, but expensive.. if I paid full price), Saba pants & Morissey shirt (didn't pay full price for them either).

Lucky my specs are $15 from the chemist, otherwise people might think I was cool.

Specs were RRP. What a rip off! ahahhahah

Inverted Xmas Trees Explained

Unless you have inspected the Xmas catalogues that were stuffed in your letterbox this week you may not know that inverted xmas trees are for sale. If you look at my previous post with the picture you will notice that the base is different to that of its neighbour.

If you think of your standard plastic xmas tree you'll note that the very tip of the tree is very bendy and usually has trouble supporting a star (or angel if that is your preference)

I did a little research on the net to find out how this all came about and this seems like the most logical explanation I could find.

In 2005 inverted trees became popular. They were originally sold as decorations for merchants that allowed customers to get closer to ornaments being sold. Customers then wanted to replicate the inverted tree. Retailers also claimed that the trees were popular because they allowed larger presents to be placed beneath the trees.

Thanks Wikipedia.

In and out meme

By yours truly. I don't know what the blog etiquette is for these "meme" things, if you make one are you supposed to complete it as well? Hell, I don't even know how to pronounce it.

Soda Water or Mineral Water - Soda water, the cheaper the better.

Tim-tams or Anzac Biscuits - Anzac Biscuits, but I eat more TimTams

M*A*S*H or Happy Days - Happy Days is less annoying

Chocolate or Cheese - mmmm... cheese. I'll eat any kind of cheese, double brie, tasty, mozarella, boccocini, haloumi, camembert, blue, goat's cheese. I'll stop before I salivate any more.

Kisses or Cuddles - Both... I can't decide. They go really well together.

Fold or Scrunch - Fold.

Red or Blue - Today it's red, but I alternate. Red was my favourite colour for years.. then Purple, then Blue. Now it depends on the day.

Mac or PC - Mac... once you go Mac you never go back.

Hot or Cold - Hot.

Tetris or Pacman - Tetris, except I can't play it much these days... It has adverse effects on me.

Lasers or Fireworks - Lasers. Fireworks were soooooooo 2000

Elvis or The Beatles - Beatles

Big Spoon or Little Spoon - Big spoon, I like giving cuddles.

White Bread or Brown Bread - Brown bread, white bread grates my insides (well I imagine it does by the way it sticks to my mouth). My new fave bread is Rye and Carraway from Bourke St bakery - its on Gardeners Rd :S

Gangster Rap or Death Metal - I hate Gangster Rap, so Death Metal it is.

and I think I changed my mind. I think I like hugs more than kisses... but only just. I've kissed a handful of bad kissers but I can't remember any bad hugs. I remember lots of good ones though :)

Carbs, Clouds, Coffee & Little Miss Sunshine

I spent yesterday eating carbs. We had pork rolls from Mascot for breakfast and stocked up on 3 different kinds of bread from 2 bakeries. Chris had a nap so I walked to the newsagent at Waterloo to see if any of the lotto games I got for my birthday had ben lucky. I won $10.35 on one of them - Woohoo! I wandered over to Marrickville to visit Kev at the bakery. On the way over I couldn't stop looking at the sky, it was such a beautiful day and I really took my time (I would have taken photos but I think I already overdid the cloud thing on Friday), normally I power walk... maybe it was whatever I was listening to on my iPod that governed my pace... or it could have been the heat. I had a croissant when I got there. 10/10 as per usual.

Last night we just bummed around watching crap TV.

This morning we were up early so we headed to the Newtown festival with Aki in tow. We beat the heat and the crowds and got to see the "doggie dash" competitions. VERY exciting stuff. We were only there for about half an hour before heading to the News Café for a chat and some people watching.

It was such a lovely day so we thought what better way to spend it than wandering around air conditioned Bondi Junction Westfield, or BJW to Eastern Suburbs Trash, I mean Eastern Suburbs Folk. Reed was looking for something to do so he came along too. I've had 2 free movie tickets sitting on my fridge since July so it was time to use them. Chris and I had initially planned on seeing Saw 3 but Reed isn't too keen on those kind of movies so we changed plans to see "Little Miss Sunshine" and I am so glad we did. It was such great Sunday afternoon viewing.

I hadn't heard much about Little Miss Sunshine but I had only heard good things. Margaret and David both gave it 4 stars. I give it 4.5 stars. I laughed, I cried, I laughed and cried at the same time. You don't need to see it on the big screen though... the little screen will be fine.

Clouds - YAY!

It's been overcast since last friday and finally the sun came out today. Come clouds came over this afternoon and I found it hard to drag my eyes away from the sky. Here are a few shots I took.

Chris and I met Murray and his mate, Geoff (Jeff?), for dinner at the Raglan, we won 2 meat trays. The strange thing was, just as they were about the draw the second one Chris picked one of our tickets (out of about 12) and said, "This will be the winning ticket"... and sure enough it was.

*cue twilight zone music*

Ahead of its time...

Yesterday when I was walking home from walk I saw some wet cement and got all excited like I usually do. I know I said I was over marking my territory on Bourke Rd but I have had a few ideas of what I can do with wet cement. I'm taking vandalism to a new level.

My idea was to write:

"Concrete" by Tim 2006

but in my haste (the adrenaline started pumping becuase there were so many cars driving past, being peak hour and all) it came out a little more like this:

"Concrete" TIM 2007

Sometimes I'm amazed by my own stupidity. I only realised I'd written 2007 this morning when I was having a shower. At least I'll only appear stupid for another month and a half or so. Hurry up NYD. My only excuse is that I was working on 2 x 2007 Calendar jobs yesterday. Still, it's pretty stupid.

I liked the single (and film clip) so much that I bought the album off itunes. Unfortunately it hadn't finished downloading when I had to leave for work this morning so I am wishing the hours away so I can listen to it when I get home.

Pixelation Hallucinations

You know when you are watching those stupid "world's greatest cop chase" shows and they pixelate the number plates of the cars? When I left the house this morning I had to do a double take on this car because it looked like the number plate was pixelated. It wasn't a flash-back, just a customer of the smash repairer across the road.

Kennards, Crashing and Kmart

My weekend was pretty low key. Actually, come to think of it I got rather sloshed on Friday night with Muzz and 2 of his mates. We started off at the Kurrajong then wandered up to the Impy for a while. I took Muzz on a tour of the alleyway where Chris and I named all the cats we used to encounter when we walked from Erko to his place on Buckland St. They were all sleeping. He must definitely think I am a crazy cat person now.

Not sure when I got to bed but I got up at about 10. Had a shower and brekkie then headed to Kennards with D and Dru to meet Marty and crew to help him move all of his and K's stuff. Kennards is such a weird place. I've never been to a storage place before, it was very eerie (see pic below, I made it a little eerier). There were 8 of us in total so it was a pretty painless exercise, except when Marty clipped the bumper of a car with the back the hire truck.

Had some Japanese for a late lunch with Chris at the Pinnochio Cafe in Kensington. It was pretty nice but I was a little bit full when I got there so I was totally stuffed when I left. I'll make sure I have an empty stomach next time I go for Japanese.

Yesterday we went to Metro for a while (the Xmas decorations are up - it's hideous) and I spotted an inverted Xmas tree in Kmart. I don't know what it's all about, it's very odd though.

Brain no work good.

I have a hangover today. Its 1 on a scale of 1 to 10. I've been functioning pretty OK except when people talk to me. It goes in one ear out the other.

I've been spending far too much time on the Big Day Out forums today. I don't know why I bother, Vogue forums were always much more fun. I guess I am just waiting for the 2nd announcement of bands in the hope that someone cool is playing.

I did however come across a new website which made me laugh:

check it out
